Challenge participants for 2005 were required to create a quilt from a
"Bag of Stuff" provided by another member. We could add fabric of our
own as we wished, but were to use as much from the original bag as possible.
Quilts were to be approximately 20 inches square. The finished quilts and
leftover bits of "stuff" went back to the original owner.

"This really was a difficult challenge! Usually I know what I am going
to do first and then buy the fabric, so getting the fabric first and then
deciding what to do was a bit backwards for me. After changing my mind
about what to do at least a dozen times, I decided to do the window based on
the design of the fabric used in the border."

"I saw the bright fabric along with the black fabric, and it seemed
like it needed to be a stained glass. I used Julie Hirota's method and my
own design."
"Petunia Duet"
Bag #6

"The magentas and purples reminded me of petunias, and the bold prints
required a stylized design. I decided to use Robbi Joy Eklow's technique to
create an original design and construct this quilt. Translucent fabric
paints were used to tint the background fabrics in shades of blue, green,
and lavender."

"This was my first challenge. I fretted for months, but once I got
started I thoroughly enjoyed the process."
