One of the most rewarding Guild activities is our Community Quilts Project. All year long, members help make quilts to donate to non-profit groups and needy individuals in the community. Over the years we have donated to such organizations as SAVE, Tri-City Volunteers, LOV Newark, the Salvation Army, Tri-City Homeless Shelter, Ronald McDonald House, Sister John Marie's Pantry, The Pregnancy Crisis Center, the Police Departments in Fremont and Newark, and many, many others.

Becky Cotton Becky Cotton donates the fabric scraps..and these tops are made for community quilts.

Community Quilts is coordinated by several dedicated committee members who meet approximately 3 times each month to prepare kits for members to complete at home. Some kits include fabric pieces to be stitched into blocks; others contain blocks to be stitched into tops. The Committee also prepares quilt tops for tying or quilting by matching them with batting, backing and binding. Several times a year, we hold special bees to baste and tie quilts. Finally, members help complete quilts by attaching binding and labels. In addition to taking home kits, many guild members contribute quilts or tops made entirely with fabrics from their own stash!

The Guild makes 125-150 quilts each year to share with our neighbors in need.
