June 19, 2010, LAFS and Quilting 101

Holy Redeemer Church from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m.  This is a wonderful time to get together to work on your own projects and to spend time with others from the guild.

July 6, 2010, Strip Poker

Let's play strip poker again at the July 6th general meeting!  Along with the traditional Ice Cream Social we're going to play a few rounds of simple poker with fabric strips instead of chips. So you might want to start cutting into your stash now.   Each strip should be 2 1/2 inches wide and full width of fabric: selvage to selvage. You will need 25 strips to play the planned rounds of poker. If you don't have a stash, or don't want to spend the time cutting, the Community Quilt ladies will be selling packs of 25 different strips for $5.00 that night to raise money for fabric.  So start your cutting if you want a good way to use some of your scraps. And prepare to have fun! Because of the Ice Cream Social you won't need to bring snacks. Contact Patty at sushi0000@comcast.net with questions.

August 7, 2010, The Air Quilt Workshop

This will be a free event and she will have a sign up sheet at the June and July meeting.  You'll need:

1 1/2 yards of large scale print or prints (may combine a variety of prints as long as background  colors match)

Or use panel print (use 2 panels) one to be cut up and the other in the Birds in Air blocks

1-2 yards of accent fabric (complimentary fabric)

Trangles or other method of making 2" finished half triangles

(Patty will have some Triangle sheets available to sell)

Everyone should be ready for a fun day of cutting, piecing and designing their very own "Birds In The Air" blocks.  Quilting is not for the birds but for us.
